HONOLULU — Who brings the juice?

Rocky Savaiigaea’s list of endeavors is extensive, as a former University of Hawai’i defensive lineman and current longshoreman/ local entrepreneur who focuses on helping give back to local youth to try and provide opportunities among the more notable notches on his belt.

Perhaps his biggest claim to fame to get him in the hot seat on HSRN’s morning show ‘Wake Up in The Den with Ku’ulei Agbayani’ though is a longtime friendship with the radio host that dates back to the two’s time working together at Jamba Juice to close out high school.

The morning show touched on many topics during Savaiigaea’s visit to “The Den”, but the beautiful people found out first things first how their friendship came about while carrying boxes of oranges before diving deeper into the mind of the former ‘Bows defensive lineman.

The conversation turned right down memory lane to explore the history of University of Hawai’i football program and how the Rainbow Warriors captivated a young Savaiigaea, along with an entire generation of young football players.

After the first break, Savaiigaea goes into his connection to Common Kings and how he got into helping the group of entertainers and how he got the opportunity to help with American Idol winner Iam Tongi’s homecoming concert and the scene of the community that night.

Savaiigaea’s clothing company, The Village, takes center stage in the conversation next as he divulges the inspiration behind starting it and what the meaning of the brand is to him and represents on a bigger scale.

Other topics discussed as the morning went on included the challenges of mental health and breaking down the stereotypes, the dangers of social media to younger kids and athletes alike, the concept of “community” and much more.

You can catch ‘Wake Up in The Den with Ku’ulei Agbayani’ live every weekday morning from 8-9 a.m. HT on 95.1 FM, AM 760 and streaming on hawaiisportsradio.com. The show is available after recording where most podcasts are, along with past OIA sports and HPU broadcasts.
