Honolulu Coffee Co. is celebrating the holiday season with a truly one-of-a-kind release — the Tokyo Toe Blend, an exclusive collaboration with University of Hawai‘i football standout Kansei Matsuzawa, otherwise known as “The Tokyo Toe.” Launching December 18, the limited-edition roast will be available at all Honolulu Coffee Co. locations across Hawai‘i and at HonoluluCoffee.com.
A Name, A Kick, and Now — A Coffee Blend
Kansei Matsuzawa — otherwise known as “The Tokyo Toe” — is bringing his signature precision into a partnership that now blends his identity directly into the cup. Known for his consistency, accuracy, and calm under pressure, Matsuzawa’s nickname has become a defining part of his story in Hawai‘i. Now, that identity finds new life in a roast crafted to match the balance and focus he brings to the field.
“This is amazing. I never expected when I got here to partner with Honolulu Coffee Company,” Kansei said at a preview event. “I love coffee… it gives me energy for the day.”
Honolulu Coffee Co.’s COO Erica Mounsey shared that the idea came naturally to their team.
“We were truly inspired by Kansei’s story and felt very connected to it,” Mounsey said. “The Tokyo Toe Blend is a tribute to dedication, heart, and the belief that craft matters — whether on the field or in the cup.”
A Smooth, Balanced Roast Inspired by Precision
The Tokyo Toe Blend features a carefully composed mix of beans, including 10% Kona coffee grown on Honolulu Coffee Co.’s farm on Hawai‘i Island. The medium roast offers smooth, everyday drinkability with notes of dried apple, Brazil nut, and brown sugar, designed to reflect the balance and clarity that define Kansei’s approach to his craft.
Mounsey describes the blend as “smooth and balanced — just like him.” Special Teams Coordinator Thomas Sheffield was even more direct: “Best coffee I’ve ever had in my entire life,” he said.
Launch Event: Meet Kansei on December 18
