Fans of Hawai‘i men’s basketball got an up-close and personal experience with their favorite players and coaches during a special meet & greet event held Saturday, November 1, at City Square Shopping Center — a celebration that tipped off a full month of community support for the Rainbow Warriors.
Community Connections Through Basketball
Head coach Eran Ganot expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to connect with fans and local supporters before the team’s first road trip.
“People always think it’s for the fans, obviously, to get to know our guys, but it gives us an opportunity to say thank you,” said Ganot. “Especially when you have a lot of new faces, it’s nice to do that going into your first trip — it sets you off on a good tone, very positive, and we’re looking forward to building off it.”
The meet & greet came just hours before the Rainbow Warriors departed for their first road trip of the season — a matchup at Oregon — making it the perfect sendoff as the team connected with fans and families before heading to the mainland.

A Shared Sense of Pride
City Square Shopping Center General Manager Mike Kaya said the initiative comes from a shared love for local sports and community pride.
“The University of Hawai‘i is our pro team, and the community wants to get together and do whatever they can to support them,” said Kaya. “A lot of the businesses here at City Square are contributing throughout November to support UH men’s basketball — whether it’s exposure, outreach, or dollars.”
Show Up for the ‘Bows
Fans are encouraged to visit City Square Shopping Center during the month of November long to take advantage of these limited-time specials — and to show their pride for the ‘Bows by supporting the local businesses that support UH Athletics.
