HONOLULU — In a matchup of unbeaten league teams, the Roosevelt Rough Riders pulled away from the Pearl City Chargers, 28–10, on Friday night to stay perfect in OIA Division II play.

First-Half Fireworks

Pearl City struck first midway through the opening quarter when quarterback Ikaika Torres capped a drive with a 9-yard touchdown run, followed by a PAT from Jun Christian Wilson for a 7–0 lead. Roosevelt answered quickly, leaning on its ground game. Cameron Jackson punched in a 2-yard score, and just minutes later, quarterback Kaeo Bush pushed across from the 1-yard line to put the Rough Riders ahead, 14–7.

Wilson’s 25-yard field goal with four seconds left in the first quarter cut the deficit to 14–10, but that would be as close as Pearl City would get.

Roosevelt Takes Control

After a scoreless second quarter, Roosevelt seized momentum early in the third. Bush connected with Riley Beal on a 35-yard touchdown strike less than a minute into the half. Jackson added his second rushing touchdown, a 3-yard burst late in the third quarter, to give Roosevelt a commanding 28–10 advantage.

From there, the Rough Rider defense clamped down, keeping Pearl City off the scoreboard in the second half.

Standout Performances

Torres finished 15-of-41 passing for 81 yards with two interceptions, though he added a rushing touchdown. Aiden Gaspar led Pearl City’s rushing attack with 35 yards, while Noah Sullivan paced the receiving corps with 5 catches for 33 yards.

Bush managed the game efficiently for Roosevelt, completing 11-of-22 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown, while Jackson anchored the ground game with 60 yards and two scores. Beal’s 49 receiving yards and touchdown highlighted the Rough Riders’ aerial attack.

Defensive Highlights

Roosevelt’s defense set the tone. Dayten Tilton was everywhere, racking up near double-digit tackles, multiple tackles for loss, and several pass breakups. Victor Silva added a key interception to help seal the victory.

Pearl City’s defense had bright spots as well, including Kealiiomana Keola’s interception that briefly gave the Chargers momentum.

What’s Next

With the victory, Roosevelt improves to 4–0 in league play and 5–1 overall, staying unbeaten alongside Kalaheo atop the Division II standings. Pearl City drops to 3–1 league, 4–3 overall, and will look to regroup as the regular season winds down.
