The Radford boys basketball team shook off a slow start to rally past visiting Waianae, 42-39, Tuesday night in an OIA West clash at Jim Alegre Gymnasium.

The Rams, who trailed by as many as six points in the first half, used a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for their third straight win as they improve to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in league play.

“We just had to play more disciplined, that was the biggest thing, playing disciplined,” said Radford senior guard Isaiah Harmon. “As soon as we started playing disciplined, we started shutting them down on defense.”

Harmon scored a game-high 13 points in the win while making key plays late in the fourth quarter to seal the game with an offensive rebound and steal to help ice the game. His efforts earned him HSRN’s “VIP of the Game” award, which is presented by Fun Factory.

The 6-foot-1 senior guard stressed the importance of playing as a team to get the win, as he also sat a stretch in the second half with four fouls.

“We just had to work together as a team,” Harmon said. “I’m really proud of my teammates because they stepped up when I wasn’t able to play when I was out so we just had to keep our head right and play hard.”

Sophomore guard Landen Lee had his best game of the regular season with eight points off the bench while Nate Hartline and Cassey Sampayan each had six points to round out the top scorers for the Rams.

Andre Corpuz also helped start the 6-0 fourth quarter run with a reverse layup while Kaleb Dizon capped the run with a buzzer-beating shot to give Radford a 41-35 lead late.

“I was really proud of them today because they stepped up,” Harmon said of his teammates. “I wasn’t able to play as much because I had four fouls… but they came through big, and I that’s really what helped us get the lead and win for the team.”

Thomas Tucker led the Seariders (4-13, 0-7) in the loss with 12 points.
