Kalaheo kept its postseason hopes alive with a 38-13 win over Kaimuki at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium Saturday night.

The Mustangs shook off a turnover-filled first quarter and scored 31 straight points to improve to 4-3 overall and 3-3 with one game left in the regular season.

Waialua (4-4, 3-3) owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Kalaheo so the Mustangs will need a win next week at Castle and a Roosevelt win over Waialua to clinch the league’s final playoff berth.

Vance Ramolete ran for three touchdowns during the run of 31 straight points for the Mustangs and finished with a career-high 166 yards on 23 carries.

His 62-yard TD run to start the second quarter gave Kalaheo the lead for good as Ramolete earned HSRN’s “Grinder of the Game” award, which is presented by Timmy T’s Gourmet Grinders Sandwich Shop.

Nainoa Barbieto also was solid in the running game with 15 carries for 88 yards and the game’s first scoring run from 11 yards out.

Kicker Loch Moorman kicked a 22-yard field goal as time expired in the first half and was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs while also adding a 21-yard TD run as a read-option quarterback in the second quarter.

Jeremyah Toilolo did a solid job on defense and special teams as he recorded two interceptions and the opening kickoff.

Kaimuki (0-6) tied the game on a recovered fumble in the end zone by Hilton Edward to end the first quarter and scored the final TD of the night on a Gabriel Logan 13-yard scoring pass to Zechariah Kuratsu-Cook.
