HONOLULU – The right-hand man role is filled once again.

Hawai’i men’s basketball head coach Eran Ganot announced on Tuesday that Brad Davidson has been elevated to the associate head coach position ahead of the 2024-25 season. The Australian-born coach is entering his fourth season with the Rainbow Warriors, spending the previous three years as an assistant coach on Ganot’s staff.

Since Davidson joined the program ahead of the 2021-22 season, Hawai’i enjoyed multiple 20-win seasons and watched guards JoVon McClanahan and Noel Coleman develop into all-conference level players under his tutelage before graduating. His previous responsibilities for the team included development of backcourt players while overseeing the offensive side of the ball.

The 13-year NBL veteran is a strong recruiter, helping Hawai’i’s international recruiting efforts consistently, and has made multiple programs into strong 3-point shooting teams. Davidson fills the role left vacant on Hawai’i’s bench by John Montgomery, who left for the same position at Long Beach State on Chris Acker’s new staff.

“In his time here, Brad has clearly established himself as a dynamic coach and mentor and has built strong relationships with our student-athletes, staff, administration, and community. Brad is terrific on the floor, in player development and on the recruiting trail, particularly internationally. We’ve been fortunate to have great people on staff who will go on to be great head coaches. Brad is no exception as he continues to go above and beyond to make teams better,” Ganot said in UH’s official press release.

Hawai’i will open competition with an exhibition on the Big Island against UH-Hilo on October 25 at 7 p.m. at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. It is the first time the Rainbow Warriors and Vulcans will face off on the Big Island since 2011 when the teams met in Kona.
