KALIHI — The Farrington football team showcased its mental fortitude Friday night.

The Governors broke open a 7-0 halftime lead into a 42-0 blowout over visiting Rancho Mirage (Calif.) in a non-league game at Skippa Diaz Stadium.

Running back Kingsten Samuelu provided the lone score of the opening half, but an injury kept him out for the rest of the game. Receiver Jacob Talamoa was also ejected in the second half after two unsportsmanlike penalties.

Quarterback DJ Faavi did his thing though as he shook off two interceptions in the second quarter to throw three scoring passes in the 28-point third quarter.

LJ Masalosalo also got into the scoring books with a 49-yard interception return to give Farrington a 21-0 lead in the second half.

The last score of the game came in the fourth when Lauititi Liufau threw a 9-yard TD pass to Princeten Samuelu, who also caught a TD pass from Faavi.

Ku Ponciano and Joah Mossman also caught receiving TDs.
