HPU Athletics Director Dr. Debbie Snell joins Jeffrey Rich on the final show of the season to recap this past year. ‘Sharks Weekly’ is set to return in August.



On the first half of the show, we welcome in newly named HPU Men’s Basketball head coach Jesse Nakanishi and discuss his promotion, his extensive coaching experience, new commits, and more. On the second half, HPU Softball head coach Jarnett Lono joins the show to recap this past season and more.



Paul Brecht fills in and welcomes Barbara Hannum to the show! Hannum is Hawaii Pacific University’s Faculty Athletics Representative and Student-Athlete Advisory Committe advisor. She shares the many memories of her 30+ years at HPU as she is set to retire this summer.



Jeffrey Rich welcomes in HPU Baseball head coach Dane Fujinaka along with former player and new assistant coach Richard Higa. Plus, the guys have some fun with a bunch of baseball trivia!



Jordan Oliver, Esports Manager for Hawai’i Pacific University and HPU Esports Arena, joins the show to provide insight on the growing world of esports.



HPU women’s tennis head coach Lauren Conching and senior Marleen Tilgner joined the show after their big-time Pac West Tournament wins in Surprise, Arizona. Also, Jeffrey Rich welcomed in the voice of HPU Athletics and a mainstay in the announcing scene on Oahu, “Paco Loco.”



On this episode, we highlight newly crowned National Champions HPU Cheerleading! The Hawai’i Pacific University cheerleading squad won the National Cheerleaders Association’s (NCA) National Championship in the Advanced Small Coed Division II. It’s the Sharks’ eighth NCA National Championship and first since 2012.



In the first half of this special edition of Sharks Weekly, Jeffrey Rich welcomes former Hawai’i Pacific University men’s basketball player Nash Subotic. Subotic is the Founder and CEO of WestPac Wealth Partners and oversees the strategic direction of the firm, talent acquisition, and works with high-net-worth clients. Former HPU Men’s Basketball head coach Darren Vorderbruegge joins the second half of the show to reflect on his 17 years spent at HPU, future plans, and more.



HPU Acro & Tumbling head coach Peyton Smith joins the show along with student-athletes Jaylyn Oka and Christine Wong.



Paul Brecht fills in as host and is joined by HPU Women’s Golf student-athletes Shuiyun He, Clarissa Burhan, and Lily Landt.

Joining the show are student-athletes senior catcher Savanna Salyer-Kovacs, sophomore pitcher Taylor Thompson, and sophomore infielder Tiari Hernandez.

Hawai’i Pacific fell short 5-4 to in-state rival UH-Hilo on Senior Day. The Sharks finish the season 20-27, their first 20-win season since 2019.



The Sharks were able to cap off their Senior Day with a 3-1 win over the Vulcans. Tita Saunders, Hailey Yoshida, and Savanna Salyer-Kovacs plated the three runs for HPU. Yoshida gave up no earned runs in her start and improved to 8-5.



The Vulcans squeaked by the Sharks with a 1-0 win in Game 1 of the HPU Senior Day doubleheader.



The Sharks walk it off against crosstown rival Chaminade, 4-3. Hailey Yoshida earned her seventh win of the season. She allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two along the way.



The Sharks take Game 2 of the doubleader with a 7-3 win over the Silverswords. HPU had 13 hits while holding Chaminade to 4. Taylor Thompson also snagged her seventh win of the year as she allowed two runs on four hits and one strikeout.
